The goal-driven data solution
To gain insight into the total number of passengers in vehicles, GVB conducts manual counts. This work is labor-intensive, prone to errors, and only provides a snapshot in time. With GVB, we developed software that can take over this task. By utilizing computer vision in combination with footage from the security cameras in a vehicle, the number of passengers can be counted. The footage is not viewed or shared but is only analyzed by the model, ensuring privacy is maintained. With this solution, GVB can achieve actual insights into passenger numbers over a longer period, allowing them to respond to these insights. For example, they can identify which lines have a higher number of non-paying passengers.
“A challenging journey that teaches us a lot about innovating with the help of data while keeping it practical. Good collaboration among multiple experts clearly demonstrates what is possible.”
