"Understanding the week of respect through a smart social media monitor and LLM sentiment analysis."

Introduction

A respectful society where young people feel at home and actively contribute is the mission of the Respect Foundation.
Respectful coexistence begins with young people – the generation of the future.
Because what you learn young, you take with you the rest of your life.
By inspiring and activating children to contribute themselves, we structurally build a respectful society.
But how do we ensure that they grow up in a society where they feel connected to each other and their environment?
That they feel at home in and actively participate in the society in which they live?
We believe that children naturally possess a moral compass; the ability to make the right choices when it matters.
But experience also shows that this compass must be learned to trust, recognize and develop.

The goal-driven data solution

Since 2006, the Respect Foundation has organized the annual national awareness campaign the Week of Respect.
In total, they reach 4.1 million young people.
From our Data For Good label, we helped the Respect Foundation gain insight into the online impact of the Week of Respect.
With a social media monitor and impact analysis, the Respect Foundation has insight on the sentiment of the coverage and the actual reach.
The sentiment was analyzed by our LLM.

“Every year, after the Week of Respect, we do the ‘social scrape’: a collection of all the projects, actions, photos and quotes done throughout the Netherlands.
Not an easy job.
Especially given the mega growth of the campaign (30%!).
This can’t be done manually and we often miss real gems.
Therefore, we are very happy with our collaboration with Data Science Lab.
In 2023, they supported us in providing insight into the national impact of the campaign.
One particular analysis was that the Week of Respect generated a huge positive boost on Social Media!
Not only is it a mega gift to our organization to see all the beautiful and impactful initiatives, but it also allowed us to create our own activity report for each municipality we work with; filled with teachers and youth reached, photos of guest lessons, and actions by sports clubs, among other things.
Huge thanks @DSL for helping us take stock of the positive impact of Respect Week, data-driven!”
