Data Engineering, Data Science & AI

Start Your Career in Data & AI

Have you just graduated, or do you have up to two years of work experience? And would you like to discover where your strengths lie in the fields of data, engineering, and AI?

At Data Science Lab, you don’t start right away in one of our chapters. Instead, during your first year, you’ll have the opportunity to explore different aspects of the field. This could involve working on a single, longer-term assignment for a client or collaborating on multiple projects. In both cases, you’ll tackle real-world challenges, receive guidance from experienced consultants in our chapters, and discover, step by step, which direction suits you best.

After that first year, we’ll work with you to determine which role is best suited for your continued development. This could include, for example, data analysis, data engineering, machine learning, or AI.

What will you do?

You’ll work on projects that use data and AI to help organizations operate more intelligently, efficiently, or with a stronger evidence base. Sometimes that means helping to make data more understandable. Sometimes you’ll help build a data platform, work on a machine learning application, or explore how generative AI can add value to a process.

Our clients operate in a variety of sectors, ranging from commercial organizations to public and social institutions. Depending on the assignment, you might work on improving management information, data platforms, process optimization, machine learning applications, or generative AI.

Among other things, you’ll learn how to:

  • analyzes data and translates it into actionable insights;
  • develops dashboards and reports that help organizations make better decisions;
  • works with Python, SQL, and modern cloud platforms such as Azure;
  • works with data engineering tools such as Databricks;
  • accesses, structures, and processes data sources;
  • develops and improves machine learning and AI applications;
  • applies generative AI within business processes;
  • translates technical issues into practical solutions;
  • collaborates with clients, colleagues, and end users;
  • As a consultant, I learn to contribute ideas, ask probing questions, and take responsibility.

Of course, you don’t have to be able to do all of this yet. That’s exactly what this program is for. We’re mainly looking for people who are curious, eager to learn, and enjoy applying technology to real-world problems.

What will your first year be like?

You’ll start out with a broad scope. That means you won’t be hired right away for a specific role within a particular chapter of DSL, but you’ll have the opportunity to take on a variety of tasks in the fields of data and AI. These include data analysis, engineering, and AI.

At the same time, you’re not on your own. You’ll receive guidance from our chapters and work alongside experienced consultants who will help you grow in both technical skills and consulting. You’ll also participate in internal training sessions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and, where relevant, certification programs.

In practice, your first year can take many different forms. Sometimes you’ll work on a single client project for an extended period, allowing you to really dive deep into it. In other cases, you’ll rotate through multiple projects and get to know different contexts. We’ll take into account what’s best for your professional development, the projects currently underway, and the guidance you’ll need.

After about a year, we’ll work together to determine which direction is the best fit for you. Based on your development, your interests, and the projects you’ve worked on, we’ll choose the role and specialization that makes the most sense.
