Principal Consultant – Data Engineer

Your role as Principal Consultant
In this strategic and technically challenging role, you will be the technical foundation of our Data Engineering chapter. Together with the Managing Consultant (MC), you will develop a tactical annual plan that directly contributes to our business objectives. You will ensure clear direction and focus within the team, and be the point of contact both internally and externally for technological innovation.
You combine your deep technical expertise with vision and leadership. You take the technical lead on client projects from inception to delivery, ensuring the highest quality standards from the initial sales pitch through implementation and evaluation. In addition, you inspire both colleagues and clients with your expertise and advice on a strategic level.
Your technical experience:
- Expert in programming in Python/pyspark
- Extensive experience with SQL, including writing complex queries and optimizing query performance. Experience with data build tool(dbt) is a plus.
- Extensive experience in accessing and integrating data via APIs (REST/GraphQL), message queues and other data sources.
- Extensive experience in designing, building and optimizing robust and scalable data pipelines, for both batch and streaming data.
- Experience with data warehouse and data lake architectures and data modeling (Inmon, Kimball, data vault). You are able to develop scalable and well-structured data models that fit business needs.
- Experience setting up and managing modern cloud data platforms using Databricks, Snowflake and/or Microsoft Azure data services (Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse).
- Demonstrated experience with at least one cloud platform(Azure, AWS or GCP). Knowledge of cloud networking (e.g., virtual networks, subnets, security groups) is a plus.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Bicep).
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (AVG/GDPR). You apply best practices in data security and privacy.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.

- A challenging position within a transparent organization with an appropriate salary. Salary is set in salary scales. The amount of salary is determined by the period of employment and your exact position. The salary is between €5,500 and €8,500 gross per month, depending on prior experience, excluding emoluments and pension allowances.

- Seniority: An experienced data engineer with at least 8 years of experience.
