Principal Consultant - Data Engineer
As a Principal Consultant Data Engineer, you are the strategic and technical foundation of our data engineering team.

At Data Science Lab, you can put your expertise to full use and develop it further. You will be responsible for the technical vision, innovation and technical output of our data engineering team. Your role as Principal Consultant
In this strategic and technically challenging role, you will be the technical foundation of our data engineering chapter. Together with the Managing Consultant (MC), you will develop a tactical annual plan that directly supports our business objectives. You will give the team clear direction and focus, and be the point of contact for technological innovation, both internally and externally.
You will combine deep technical expertise with vision and leadership. You will lead the technical work on client projects from start to delivery, taking responsibility for the highest quality standards from the initial sales pitch through implementation and evaluation. You will also inspire colleagues and clients with your expertise and strategic advice.
Your technical experience:
Expert in programming with Python/pyspark
Extensive experience with SQL, including writing complex queries and optimising query performance. Experience with data build tool (dbt) is an advantage.
Extensive experience making data accessible and integrating it through API’s (REST/GraphQL), message queues and other data sources.
Extensive experience designing, building and optimising robust, scalable data pipelines for both batch and streaming data.
Experience with data warehouse and data lake architectures and data modelling (Inmon, Kimball, data vault). You can develop scalable, well-structured data models that meet business needs.
Experience setting up and managing modern cloud data platforms using Databricks, Snowflake and/or Microsoft Azure data services (Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse).
Proven experience with at least one cloud platform (Azure, AWS or GCP). Knowledge of cloud networking (e.g. virtual networks, subnets, security groups) is an advantage.
Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Bicep).
Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations (GDPR). You apply best practices in data security and privacy.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage.

A challenging role in a transparent organisation with an appropriate salary. Salaries are set according to salary bands. Your salary depends on how long you have worked for us and your specific role. The salary ranges from €5,500 to €8,500 gross per month, depending on prior experience, excluding additional benefits and pension allowances.

Dutch language: You are proficient in Dutch, both written and spoken.
