Ten consultancies that produce forecasts and predictive models in the Netherlands, compared on four characteristics you can assess for each one. For each consultancy, we explain the situation in which it is a good fit.

Data Science Lab started in 2016. Based in Amsterdam, it builds predictive models, from sales forecasting with Prediqt to predictive maintenance with Uptima, and puts them into production. Its website features case studies for St. Antonius, Athlon and Fokker Services, among others.

AI predicts emergency department admissions
For St. Antonius Ziekenhuis, DSL developed an algorithm that helps emergency department doctors assess whether a patient needs to be admitted, so wards can prepare earlier.
Data Analytics B.V., based in Capelle aan den IJssel, builds and manages data platforms and offers data products on them, including Forecast & Planning, Demand Planning & Inventory Optimization and a Dynamic Pricing API. Its website features case studies for Fishtales, Deloitte, Nike and Prime Oil, among others.
DataNorth AI was founded in 2022 and has offices in Groningen and Amsterdam. It has dedicated pages for AI-powered sales forecasting, inventory management and price optimisation, and also runs many AI training courses and workshops. Case studies on its website include Omrin, Scania Nederland and the municipality of Groningen.
Bain & Company is an international strategy consultancy with an office in Amsterdam. It has its own Demand Forecasting Center of Excellence for short-term operational demand planning and long-term strategic demand forecasting. One case study describes improved forecasts and less waste at Grupo Bimbo.

EY operates in the Netherlands from offices including Amsterdam, The Hague and Eindhoven. EY-Parthenon offers forecasting and scenario planning: projections and scenarios that support strategic decisions while accounting for macroeconomic factors. One case study describes FrieslandCampina’s data platform.
Van Dam Datapartners, based in Utrecht, helps municipalities and other public organisations work in a data-driven way and carry out analyses. Its Forecasting and Scenario Model predicts volumes and costs and models the effects of policy. Client case studies include RSJ IJsselland, Papendrecht and the province of Noord-Brabant.
Xebia started in the Netherlands in 2001 and has grown into an international consultancy, software engineering and training company, with its Dutch office in Hilversum. Its demand forecasting page mentions client stories including Albert Heijn, Kramp and Bakker Goedhart.
Cloud Primero is a technology consultancy in Rotterdam that builds digital products using cloud, big data, AI and Salesforce. Its predictive analytics page covers time-series, forecasting, classification and clustering models. Case studies on its website include JOGO and ClickDrive.

Conclusion Intelligence is one of the Conclusion companies and has an address in Amsterdam. Its website features AI use cases for patient forecasting, predictive absence and workforce planning, as well as case studies for Axxicom, Transdev and APG, among others.
Data Digital, based in Eindhoven, builds apps, online platforms and data solutions. Its predictive analytics page also mentions time-series analysis, and it produced inventory management forecasts for JustStock using a SARIMAX model. Its clients include BabyManager, Roompot and in-lite.

The 96 Dutch data and AI consultancies that Data Science Lab tracks.
Inclusion criteria
The consultancy has an address in the Netherlands, offers forecasting as a separate service (demand forecasting, forecasts, predictive analytics or a predictive model) on its own website, and names at least one client or project there; a logo does not count. This applied to 12 of the 96.
Ranking
After Data Science Lab come the 9 consultancies with the most separate service pages covering the four situations in the selection guide; ties are broken alphabetically. At the cut-off (0 situations), Cloud Primero, Conclusion Intelligence and Data Digital made the list. Follo Agency missed out on alphabetical order. Within the list, consultancies with the same score are listed alphabetically; by that rule, Data Science Lab would be in 10th place.
Selection guide
Only a separate service page counts, including for Data Science Lab; a mention, case study or tile does not. Demand: demand forecasting, demand planning or predicting demand. Inventory: inventory optimisation, or inventory management using AI or models. Pricing: price optimisation, dynamic pricing or price prediction. Scenarios: scenario planning or a scenario model.
Situations
We started with demand, inventory, sales and staffing. ‘Predicting revenue and sales’ was dropped because too few consultancies matched it: 1 of the 12. ‘Planning staff and capacity’ was dropped for the same reason: 2 of the 12. ‘Adjusting prices to demand and the market’ (3 of the 12) and ‘Calculating scenarios’ (3 of the 12) replaced them. Whether Data Science Lab had a page for a situation played no part in that decision.
Considered
We reviewed large consultancy and IT firms; where we could not find an address, a named client or a separate forecasting page on their websites, they were not included. Consultancies that offer only general analysis, predictive maintenance or planning software, and forecasting software vendors, do not belong on this list.

Frequently asked questions
A forecasting consultancy makes predictions using your own data: how many customers will place orders, how much stock you need, what effect a price change will have, or how a decision might play out. Good consultancies first test the model against your historical data, show how certain a prediction is, and agree who will maintain it after delivery.
Because we made this list, and we would rather say so ourselves. Under the rule set out in our methodology, we would be in 10th place: we do not yet have a separate page for the four situations. Do not choose based on ranking; choose based on your situation. That is why we explain when each consultancy might be a better fit than us.

Forecasting is the application: you want to know what is coming, such as demand, stock needs or the effect of a decision. Machine learning is one of the techniques used to make those predictions, alongside statistical time-series models.
