Data Analytics B.V., based in Capelle aan den IJssel, designs, builds and manages data platforms. For data management, it documents definitions, ownership and quality rules through a business glossary, lineage and checks rather than a document left in a drawer. Its case studies include Fishtales, Deloitte and Nike.
EY operates in the Netherlands from offices including Amsterdam, The Hague and Eindhoven. Its data services include a quick assessment of pension data quality, advice on data protection and privacy, and work on AI-ready data. One case study describes FrieslandCampina’s data platform.

Founded in 1998, ITDS helps financial services providers with data management and regulation from its Amsterdam base. It offers separate services for data governance, data stewardship, master data management and metadata management. Its website features projects for organisations including Aegon and KLM.

Semmtech started in 2010 and works from Hoofddorp for asset-intensive organisations. It establishes data management, master data and standardised data exchange between organisations using linked data and its own Laces platform. Its case studies include Waternet, TenneT and Arcadis.

The 96 Dutch data and AI agencies tracked by Data Science Lab.
Inclusion criteria
The agency has an address in the Netherlands, offers data governance or data management as its own service on its website (including data quality, master data or metadata), and names at least one client or project there; a logo does not count. Sixteen of the 96 met these criteria.
Ranking
After Data Science Lab come the 9 agencies with the most separate service pages covering the four scenarios in the selection guide. Ties are decided first by the number of pages on data strategy, then alphabetically. At the cut-off (1 scenario), the following were included, with their number of data strategy pages in brackets: Digital Power (1), Emixa (1), ilionx (0), Infotopics (1) and Mobilee (1). Levi9 (0) missed out on alphabetical order. Within the list, agencies with the same score are ordered alphabetically; on that basis, Data Science Lab would be in 10th place.
Selection guide
Only a separate service page counts, including for Data Science Lab; a mention, case study or tile does not. Quality: a service page with data quality in the title or heading. Roles: a service page with data stewardship, ownership or data roles in the title or heading. Master data: a service page with master data or MDM in the title or heading. GDPR: a service page with GDPR, privacy, data protection or data sharing in the title or heading.
Scenarios
We started with data quality, a data catalogue, ownership and master data. ‘Setting up a data catalogue’ was dropped because too few agencies matched it: 2 of the 16. ‘Managing GDPR compliance and data sharing’ (5 of the 16) took its place. Ties are decided by data strategy (9 of the 16), then alphabetically. Whether Data Science Lab had a page for a scenario played no part in that decision.
Considered
We reviewed large consulting and IT companies; where we could not verify an address, a named client or a dedicated page for data governance or data management on their websites, they were not included. Agencies that offer only privacy services, governance of AI systems or training, and software vendors, do not belong on this list.

A data governance consultancy helps you establish and follow rules for data: who owns it, which definitions apply, when its quality is good enough and who can access it. Good consultancies make those rules measurable through checks, so they do not just sit in a document.
Because we made this list, and we would rather say so ourselves. The other nine are ranked by the number of services of their own they offer for the four situations; see the methodology.
