Compiled by
Data Science Lab. We put ourselves at number 1; that is the only position that does not follow from the rules below.
Reference date
29 October 2026. All information comes from the consultancies’ websites as they appeared on that date.
Candidates
The 96 Dutch data and AI consultancies that Data Science Lab tracks.
Inclusion criteria
The consultancy has an address in the Netherlands, offers AI governance, Responsible AI or AI Act compliance as a separate service (advice, implementation, testing or assessment) on its own website, and names at least one client or project there; a logo does not count. This applied to 14 of the 96.
Ranking
As the compiler, Data Science Lab is ranked number 1 and presents its own offering first. The remaining consultancies are ranked by the number of their own service pages covering the four situations in the selection guide; ties are settled alphabetically.
Selection guide
Only a dedicated service page counts, including for Data Science Lab; a mention, case study or tile does not. Risks: a service for assessing or managing the risks of AI or AI suppliers, with ‘risk’ in the title or heading. Baseline assessment: an assessment, scan or maturity assessment concerning AI regulations, governance, ethics or risks. Ethics: a service covering AI ethics, bias or fairness. Security: a service covering AI security or shadow AI.
Situations
We started with AI risks, ethics and bias, AI policy and an AI register. ‘Drafting an AI policy’ was dropped because too few consultancies matched it: 1 of the 14. ‘Maintaining an AI or algorithm register’ was dropped for the same reason: 1 of the 14. ‘Knowing where you stand’ (3 of the 14) and ‘Using AI safely’ (3 of the 14) replaced them. Ties were settled by AI governance (7 of the 14), Responsible AI (9 of the 14) and the AI Act (6 of the 14), in that order, then alphabetically. Whether Data Science Lab had a page for a situation played no part in that choice.
Considered
We reviewed large consulting and accountancy firms; if we could not find an address, a named client or a dedicated AI governance page on their websites, they were not included. Consultancies offering only articles, guides, tools or training, pages belonging to another company in the same group, and software vendors are not included in this list. Legal advice is outside the scope of this comparison.

Frequently asked questions
An AI governance consultancy helps you identify which AI systems your organisation uses, the risks each application poses, who is responsible for it, and what policies and controls are needed. Good consultancies make those policies workable for the teams that build, procure or use AI, and agree with you how to keep them up to date as applications and regulations change.
Data Science Lab compiled this list and presents its own services first. We compare the other consultancies based on their service pages for the four situations. Look at their specialisms and examples of their work to decide which consultancy suits your project.
Start with your situation: do you want to understand the risks of your AI, assess where you stand, test a model for bias, or make AI use safer? The selection guide shows which consultancies offer a dedicated service for each need. The examples of work listed for each consultancy link to real case studies.
Data governance concerns the data itself: quality, ownership and definitions. AI governance concerns the models and applications that use that data: what they are allowed to do, the risks they pose and who oversees them. If you are looking for a partner to help with your data, see the best data governance consultancies.
This list compares consultancies on their AI governance services, not on legal advice. Discuss what the AI Act means legally for your application with your lawyer or compliance department. Data Science Lab helps you identify AI systems, classify risks and establish governance; read more about the AI Act in practice.
We map which AI systems your organisation uses, assess the controls needed for each application and define roles and frameworks that fit how you already make decisions. Because we build and monitor models ourselves, the policies reflect how things work in practice. Read more about AI governance at Data Science Lab.
